The Memorial Sea-Hawks Men's Soccer program are pleased to announce the commitments of Saskatchewan Canada Games players Griffin Striker and Landon Bagonluri, both of whom competed at the 2025 Summer Games in St. John's, hosted at Memorial.
Griffin Striker is a hard working midfielder from Swift Current who is comfortable in possession, with a strong ability to distribute to forward players. He currently attends Swift Current Comprehensive High School and has previously represented Saskatoon Alliance, Forge FC SK, and the Swift Current Soccer Association.
On what attracted him to Memorial, Griffin revealed "Wonderful campus and welcoming people. I really enjoyed my conversations with coach Alex, he really tried to get to know me as a player and as a person. I'm looking forward to taking the next step in my development. And I look forward to competing for a conference championship."
"Griffin played a key role for Team Saskatchewan at Canada Games as well as his club team at U17 Club Nationals and put in some impressive performances demonstrating consistently the qualities that we are looking for in order to improve our squad. He is a technician with a high soccer IQ, combined with athleticism and work ethic giving him a really well rounded game. Getting to know Griffin during the recruiting process through meetings and talking with his previous coaches it was very clear that his attitude is first class and he is a committed student athlete. All of this combined make me confident that with continued dedication and focus over the next couple of years Griffin has the potential to be a big player for the Sea-Hawks and is an exciting addition to this year's squad" said Coach McNutt.
Griffin is a National Silver Medalist in 2025 and was named Saskatchewan Soccer futsal player of the year. His intended major is Bachelor of Physical Education as he plans to go into teaching.
Landon Bagonluri is a goal keeper from Saskatoon, and is part of the Saskatchewan EXCEL Program. He also represented Team Saskatchewan at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John's. Landon's strengths are distribution, sweeping, and shot-stopping. He enjoys being a part of the build up to start attacks and keep possession.
Coach McNutt, reflecting on the new addition, explains "We need to add depth and competition within our Goalkeeping ranks. Landon is a player with the right personality, character and mentality to fit right into our goalkeeper pool. He is ready and willing to come in and work year round to develop his game and compete for a spot. I am confident that working with our goalkeeping staff that Landon will continue to develop and will bring the right attitude into the training environment. The potential is there so I am happy to give him this opportunity and excited to see how far he can go."
Landon attends St. Joseph High School (Provincial and City Champion) and has participated in multiple Canadian National Team Integration Camps. Previous awards include Saskatchewan Provincial Men's Futsal MVP.
Landon will pursue a degree in Pharmacy, and spoke of why he chose Memorial, "I felt Memorial was the right fit for me. I really connected with Coach Alex and the direction he's taking the program. I can tell Coach Alex and the rest of his coaching staff are really passionate about developing players and building a competitive environment and a winning team. I also like the balance between strong academics and high-level soccer Memorial has to offer, which is, consequently, what helped me make my decision, a simple one. At Memorial, I know I can grow as a player and as a person."
Griffin and Landon represent the latest additions to the Sea-Hawks men's soccer recruting class of 2026, following the previoulsy announced commitments of Newfoundlanders Malik Snook, Cole Hynes, and Ryan Mouland. Memorial's Fall 2026 campaign begins at home on Saturday, September 5th, 3:30pm vs the visiting Acadia Axemen at the Fortis Complex. The team's full 2026 AUS schedule can be found here.
