Seahawks Sign Local Point Guard

The Memorial University Seahawks women's basketball program is pleased to announce that 5'8 guard Molly Arnold of St. John's, has committed to join the team for the 2026–27 season.

Arnold currently attends Holy Heart of Mary High School and has developed into one of the province's top young guards. She is also a member of the Seahawks High Performance Team, where she trains and competes locally while continuing to develop her skills and prepare for the next level.

Arnold chose Memorial University for a combination of strong academics and the supportive environment surrounding the basketball program.

"I chose Memorial University for its strong academic reputation, competitive basketball program, and most importantly the outstanding support system provided by the coaches, teammates, and my family," said Arnold. "I'm confident I will thrive both academically and athletically, and I look forward to beginning the 2026–27 season."

A quick and high IQ guard, Arnold prides herself on creating opportunities for her teammates while remaining a scoring threat from the perimeter.

"I'm a quick, smart point guard who creates opportunities for teammates while remaining a consistent threat from the three-point line," Arnold said. "My speed, athleticism and court IQ allow me to contribute on both ends of the court, and I'm confident I will be a strong asset to the Seahawks."

Arnold is eager to take the next step in her basketball journey and compete at the university level.

"I'm incredibly excited to begin my first season at Memorial and take my game to the next level," she added. "Playing at the university level has always been a goal of mine, and I'm proud to have achieved it. I look forward to embracing new challenges, continuing to grow as both a player and student, and making the most of this opportunity."

Head Coach Mark English has seen Arnold's development firsthand over the past several seasons and believes her growth and work ethic will make her a strong addition to the program.

"Molly has made tremendous improvement over the last two years," said English. "Her quickness allows her to get into the paint and create opportunities, and she has developed into a consistent three-point shooter. She's a very coachable player who continues to work hard on her game, and we're excited to see her continue that growth and help our program greatly."
